The Vermont Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (VLETS) data communications network provides message switching and database access services to 72 local, county, state, and federal agencies throughout Vermont. Using VLETS, end users can access State and Federal files for motor vehicle and driver license information, stolen property, missing and wanted persons. VLETS is managed by the Department of Public Safety, Criminal Justice Services Division. VLETS provides access to the Vermont Criminal Information Center (VCIC) as the repository of all criminal record information generated by criminal justice agencies statewide. VCIC consolidates and verifies arrest, prosecution, sentencing, and correctional information provided by other agencies into a criminal history format which documents a subject's contacts with the criminal justice system in Vermont. The State of Vermont has awarded a contract to PsPortals, Inc. for web-based law enforcement workstation software, defined in the state’s RFP as NCIC 2000 workstation software. The proposed software will communicate with the state law enforcement message switching system at the Vermont Department of Public Safety Headquarters in Waterbury.
